Happy Sunday South Laker! Our community is preparing for a deeply moving local tradition. A reminder that weβre all humans that share this world as we live in today. And those who are not here with us, we will remember with every story we share and every step we take together into a better tomorrow.
Letβs dive in.

A Powerfully Silent 8.2-Mile Memorial For Fallen Cyclists
A moving global tradition is returning to Lake Minneola this week, and it serves as a reminder of how deeply interconnected our South Lake community truly is. On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, cyclists from across Central Florida will gather at Clermont Waterfront Park for the 2026 Central Florida Ride of Silence.
This isnβt a competitive race. It is a funeral-style, completely silent group ride dedicated to honoring cyclists who have been injured or killed on public roadways, while promoting safety and mutual respect between drivers and riders. The event carries a deep local legacy, continuing the tradition established by Clermontβs original Ride of Silence events held from 2012 through 2023.
Whether you are a serious triathlete training in Clermont, a casual trail rider from Minneola or Groveland, or a daily commuter who navigates these roads, this event matters to all of us.
How safe do you feel navigating South Lake Countyβs roads as a cyclist or pedestrian?
- Completely Safe: Our trails are world-class, and local drivers are incredibly mindful.
- Somewhat Safe: The designated trails (like the South Lake Trail) are great, but mixing with traffic on major roads is risky.
- Unsafe: Traffic is too fast, infrastructure hasn't kept pace with growth, and distracted driving is out of hand.
- I Avoid the Roads Entirely: I stick strictly to paved park paths and won't risk walking or cycling next to traffic.
Community Poll Results:
In our recent poll, we wanted to know how everyone is keeping their yards in check (or letting them go!). Out of 21 votes cast, it looks like most locals are doing their part to adapt to the new one-day-a-week watering rules.
42.86% (9 votes) has already reset their irrigation system timers to their one designated watering day. Compliance for the win!
33.33% (7 votes) are letting nature take its course. Brown grass is officially the new green.
19.05% (4 votes) are skipping the struggle altogether and investing in Florida-friendly, drought-resistant plants that don't need constant soaking.
4.76% (1 vote) are keeping the rain barrels ready for the next big downpour.

Jeffβs Bagel Run
Jeffβs Bagel Run is redefining Clermont's morning routine with fresh, scratch-made batches that honor a strict "Always Boiled, Never Toasted" rule. When a bagel is fresh, putting it in a toaster is practically a crime. Youβll come in with plenty of mix and match bold options like Roasted JalapeΓ±o and Cannoli cream cheese. If youβre in SR-50, stop by and grab a fresh dozen for this weekend.
Best Signature Dish: Grab a Asiago Everything Bagel with their their plain cream cheese. If you're leaning sweet, pair a Blueberry Bagel with Strawberry cream cheese.
