If you’ve been waiting for more outdoor spaces to enjoy, Groveland's massive new regional park is finally open and it's an absolute game-changer. We are also diving into an incredible Mexican food spot hidden right inside a local gas station.

The wait is over. South Lake Regional Park in Groveland has officially opened its doors, and Lake County's largest multi-use recreational park did not disappoint.

The park debuted with an inaugural tournament ceremony, welcoming families, athletes, and local leagues to a facility built to handle it all. There are eleven sports fields covering baseball, softball, soccer, football, tee-ball, multi-purpose use, and a dedicated cricket pitch - one of the few in the region.

Our fans won't be suffering in the heat either. There are shaded bleachers, modern dugouts, electronic scoreboards, batting cages, and concession stands round out the athletic facilities. In addition, there are walking trails, volleyball courts, picnic areas, pavilions, and fully ADA-accessible amenities make the park a destination for the whole community.

South Lake Regional Park is located at 13989 Max Hooks Rd., Groveland, FL 34736.

A strong push is underway urging local city governments to cut bureaucratic red tape and give small businesses a fair chance to thrive in our changing economy. Local advocates argue that protecting independent shops is essential to maintaining South Lake’s unique community character amidst rapid development.

Funding Homeless Outreach
Thrifty shoppers and local volunteers successfully raised over $5,000 for a South Lake homeless charity during a recent community thrift event. Every dollar from this community-driven initiative goes directly toward providing critical shelter, meals, and support services for local families in need.

Mental Health Awareness
South Lake health advocates are launching a community wellness initiative encouraging residents to practice mindfulness and prioritize mental health. The program offers free local resources and simple daily strategies to help neighbors manage stress and build emotional resilience.

This place is inside a Marathon gas station. That detail stops a lot of people before they ever walk through the door, and they're missing out. It's some of the better Mexican food in the Clermont area.

The menu covers the expected ground: tacos, burritos, fajitas. But everything is made with real care. The tacos come on 6-inch soft corn tortillas with cilantro and onion, the way they should. The burritos are big enough that you can easily stretch into two meals. Everything is cooked fresh to order, so don't show up hungry and in a hurry.
