🟠 Laker Notes

🏢 Clermont Maps Out the Next 20 Years: The City of Clermont is currently knee-deep in its "Comprehensive Plan Update," a long-term roadmap for how our city will develop through 2050. This week, city leaders are wrapping up a series of planning charrettes where they’ve been gathering resident input on housing, infrastructure, and parks. This matters because the decisions made now will dictate the traffic patterns and green spaces our kids will deal with in a decade.
🛣️ Groveland’s Lane Closures: Beginning Sunday, March 15, and continuing through Friday, March 20, motorists should expect nightly rotating northbound and southbound lane closures along S.R. 33 between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. These overnight closures will occur near Edgewood Boys Ranch Road, Pine Island Road, and Groveland Airport Road, as well as the stretch from Domenico Court to Parkwood Street. These disruptions are necessary for essential work activities, including milling, resurfacing, and paving.
🌊 Groveland’s Lake David Splash Pad Reopens: Just in time for the rising March temperatures, the City of Groveland has officially reopened the Lake David Splash Pad. After some scheduled maintenance, the community favorite is back in action to help local families cool off during Spring Break. The park serves as a central hub for Groveland residents and continues to receive steady improvements as part of the city's "Natural Charm" initiative.

⏲️ Old Florida Recipe

Grandma’s Buttermilk Cornbread
This cornbread recipe is a staple in my kitchen because it perfectly balances that rustic, Southern crunch with a hint of sweetness that reminds me of Sunday dinners at my grandma's house. Using a cast-iron skillet gives it that authentic "crust" that you just can't get any other way.
It’s simple, nostalgic, and the best companion for a bowl of chili or some fresh-caught catfish. If you want a true taste of Old Florida heritage, this is the one to master.
